Before & After

Once upon a time, there was a young single mom of 2, who, after years of struggling with her body image, finally hit her goal weight! No dieting, no exercise, just 60 hour work weeks, debilitating depression, not eating and loads of stress. Once upon a time, that young momma didn’t know if she would make it to the ripe old age of 30....

Then once day, her white knight, Self Respect, came riding up on a noble steed named Self Love, reminding her that she deserved so much more from herself, and for her children.

Three years later, she is back to struggling with her weight, but she’s is happy and healthy, and grew to love herself so much that she continues to work on bettering herself every day. She now has a wonderful man at her side, who loves her and her beautiful children, and brought 2 beautiful children with him. And they live together in relative harmony, with messy hair and missing socks.

And she lived happily ever after. Fat and happy.

The End.

Lately, I have seen so many "Before & After" posts. They are always from being overweight and unhappy, to being super fit and promoting some fad weightless nonsense. Before and Afters aren't always about weight loss guys.  Sometimes they are just about getting out of your own mind. So guys, what ever journey you are on, just focus on being happy! And if that means losing 90lbs, you do you boo! But if its just about walking out of the fog of depression, rock on baby. That's the hardest journey. Keep on keepin' on.

XOXO

Missing socks

Do you ever have one of those days? You're running around the house, yelling at your kids to get their lives together, tooth brush in one hand, cup of coffee in the other, when suddenly your kid runs up to you asking for a hug? Yeah, that was my morning.

I have been telling the kids, the man friend, and myself, that I was going to start this little writing experiment months ago. Then my phone broke, then my computer took a dump. Then I started a new job. Then we finally started wedding planning.  One excuse after another. So now, here I am, between rushing to work, picking kids up at school, and grocery shopping, doing this thing.

What can I tell you? My life is unexpectedly messy. Not at all what I thought it would be. Its chaotic, noisy, sticky, and someone is always missing socks.  I am the hot mess mom. I have a blended family. I am engaged to the most unexpected and amazing man. I am me. We are us.

Welcome to this little window into our life.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Here’s the thing about adulting that I like the least.      Being the one to have to make ALL the decisions.           What’s for di...
